Honey and Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe
for the heavy frosting haters
Years ago, cream cheese was a favorite in the frosting lien up. But when I bite into a cinnamon roll, the last thing I want is a mouthful of straight cream cheese. Yet somehow, I have no problem devouring a bagel loaded with it—maybe it’s all in the mindset.
That said, I would like to present a recipe for a frosting that to me, is perfect for an afternoon bowl with fruit or cakes. Top this frosting on a cinnamon roll though? Pretty good.
I made it with non dairy heavy whipping cream, regular heavy whipping cream works just fine.

Ingredients
- 4 oz (112g) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup Whipping cream (120g)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (60g roughly or less if you want mildly sweet)
- 1 tbsp Maple syrup (good quality if you can, if not use honey )
- 2 tsp vanilla extract (8g)
- 1 tsp milk (I used almond) (14g)

Instructions
Make the Frosting:
In a mixer, whip the cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, maple syrup, and milk. Slowly pour in the whipping cream while mixing, and whip until light and fluffy.
Frost and Enjoy:
Generously spread the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for later (though they rarely last that long!).
Iski Note
How does this frosting taste on cake? Light, but just sweet enough to qualify as frosting. Personally, I like to eat more cake than frosting—frosting shouldn’t steal the show, just make the cake shine. And that’s exactly why I love this one.
It pairs beautifully with the right cake, like the Vanilla Chantilly Cake I made last week. I brought it over to my best friend Jillian’s house, and let’s just say… it was so good. Light, airy, and the perfect match.

Why this recipe hits
This cookie combines all my favorite things—fudgy brownies, gooey marshmallows, and cozy hot chocolate vibes. It’s not too crazy of a cookie, but the mix of textures and flavors is so satisfying that my sister declared it her favorite from my holiday batch. If you love brownie cookies and hot chocolate, this is for you!
A big thank you to Heather Mubarak for the original brownie cookie base recipe. You can check out her Peppermint Brownie Cookies for even more inspiration.
This is a great recipe for icing. I’ll never use anything else for my mom‘s cinnamon roll recipe.
