Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe, Sweet and Fluffy

It’s my go-to for cinnamon rolls

Easiest Frosting IMO to make homemade

This easy cream cheese frosting is light, sweet, and whipped to perfection—the perfect balance of tangy cream cheese and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s my go-to for cinnamon rolls, cakes, cupcakes, and even a spoon straight from the bowl (no judgment here!).

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (112g) cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup (120g) heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (use good quality for the best flavor)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp milk (I use almond milk, but any works)

Instructions

Step 1: Whip the Cream Cheese

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.

Step 2: Add the Sweetness

Mix in the powdered sugar, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract until fully combined.

Step 3: Whip It Up

Slowly pour in the heavy whipping cream while mixing on low. Increase speed and whip until light, fluffy, and spreadable (about 2-3 minutes).

Step 4: Adjust Consistency

If you want a looser frosting, add 1 tsp of milk at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.

Iski Note

  • For extra stability, chill the frosting for 15 minutes before using.
  • If you like a sweeter frosting, add 1-2 more tbsp of powdered sugar.
  • Want more tang? Use 6 oz of cream cheese instead of 4 oz for a richer, tangier frosting.

PSA for ya'll

  • Spread it over warm cinnamon rolls for the ultimate melt-in-your-mouth glaze.
  • Pipe it onto cupcakes for a whipped, creamy topping.
  • Dollop it onto pancakes, waffles, or toast for an easy upgrade.
  • Dip fruit in it because why not?
